Best Television Show Of All-Time

I bought myself an early Christmas present over the weekend. Over the weekend I saw a DVD set of Seinfeld in the store window of a local electronics store and could not resist.

Okay, I know I’m not the first to say it, but Seinfeld has got to be one of the best television shows that has ever existed. I rediscovered it again last night while getting through most of the episodes in the fifth season that I bought.

There have been a lot of shows that have been largely influenced by the work that Seinfeld and the gang were doing nearly 10 years ago. It’s funny some of the more raunchy comedy, knowing what else was out at the time these shows aired. I think the “Master of Your Domain” episode probably raised some Cheers-watching-eyesbrows back in the day.

I asked a couple of my friends if they wanted to come over to watch a couple episodes with me and I was shut down, apparently there are a lot of you out there who are not into Seinfeld, in fact I get the vibe that there are some of you actually don’t like the show.

Anyways there’s my rant about Seinfeld and by the way have a great Christmas everybody and thanks for visiting my site.

Richard Pryor, One America's Funniest People

As most of you know the world has lost on of it’s funniest people over the weekend with the death of Richard Pryor.

Without Richard Pryor we would not have Jerry Seinfeld or Chris Rock. He took what other comics were doing in the 60’s and added his own stamp to it. A lot of his comedy was about the racial issues happening in America and his upfront style caused people to listen to what he had to say.

The great thing about Pryor was that he was funny to everyone, to black and white people.

He was successful even through some of the problems he had during his life. He grew up in a brothel that his grandmother owned. As an adult he battled a heavy drug problem, in the 80’s he nearly burned himself to death while lighting cocaine.

At the end of the day Pryor used his troubled background and experiences for his comedy. A visit to Africa made him look at the racial issues in America and made him stop using certain words in his routine.

The comedy world should be thankful that it had someone like Richard Pryor.

Upcoming Holiday Movies

There are a lot of upcoming movies over the holidays to choose from and I thought that I help by breaking some down for you.

King Kong

This one will be good, I’m sure that I will probably watch it as soon as it comes out. I mean it’s got King Kong and Jack Black in it, directed by Peter Jackson, I don’t think there’s a change that it will be bad.

All The King’s Men

This will be the movie you’ll want to watch if you’re in for a drama and some good acting. The film’s got Sean Penn and Jude Law in it. Lately it seems like Sean Penn gets nominated for every role he takes and I’m sure this movie won’t be an exception.

Fun With Dick and Jane

I have to say that I have never seen a bad Jim Carrey movie (well there was that one about restoring the movie theatre, that was fairly bad). In this movie Carrey stars with Téa Leoni as a couple who starts to make their living from being criminals. I’m sure this movie will be a funny and probably one you can take the kids to.

The New World

There was a preview for this movie on television a couple days ago. It’s a story about Pocahontas, but I’m sure this one won’t have any singing animals in it. This will be a good flick to check out during the holidays.
